Additional information

• Iron (Fe) is an essential mineral that is needed for the formation of haemoglobin in red blood cells and to transport oxygen from the lungs to every cell.
• Blood’s iron content is measured by haemoglobin tests. Haemoglobin’s (Hb) reference values in women is 120-155 g/l and in men 130-180 g/l.
• B vitamins are water-soluble vitamins that are important for many basic functions of the body and are needed every day. Thiamine (B1) contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism and nervous system function. Riboflavin (B2) contributes to the maintenance of normal red blood cells and pyridoxine (B6) contributes to their formation. Vitamin B12 has a role in the process of cell division, contributes to normal red blood cell formation and the normal functioning of the nervous system. Sufficient folic acid intake is especially important for pregnant women, as it promotes tissue growth during pregnancy. Folic acid also contributes to normal blood formation.
• Vitamin C is an antioxidant, which contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Vitamin C also contributes to normal immunity and iron absorption.
