Additional information

• Biotin, or vitamin B7, is a water-soluble vitamin that is necessary for the body, also known as vitamin H. It is not stored in the body, but excess biotin leaves the body with urine.
• Biotin has many important effects in the body, e.g. promotes the well-being of hair, skin and mucous membranes and participates in the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. The following health claims have been approved for biotin:
  – contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism
  – contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system
  – contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism
  – contributes to normal psychological function
  – contributes to the maintenance of normal hair
  – contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes
  – contributes to the maintenance of normal skin
• Good sources of biotin in food are e.g. egg (especially the yolk), liver, yeast and soybeans. Intestinal microbes also produce biotin for the body’s needs.
• Evonia^® Strong Biotin contains a high dose of biotin, 10 000 micrograms/tablet. A high dose of biotin consumed as a dietary supplement may significantly distort some laboratory results. If possible, it is recommended to take a break of at least one day before the laboratory tests.
